HAPPY BEALTANE!!!

Finally! It's Beltane and Spring has finally arrived in the far reaches of Central NY. As much as we want to celebrate with a roaring bonfire, it will have to be a firepit today as we are still in the middle of our yearly burn ban. I do have all the makings for a lovely day though, Jonathan Coulton's First of May is cued up to blast and wake up Etain, We have flowers, we have lots of ribbons, I am all set to make a springy cake and a dandelion fizzy drink. Chicken is what's for dinner and tea at the fire to stay warm (maybe even cocoa, but probably tea. We are doing something a little different this year since the festival we usually attend is not until the end of the month (and we don't have a maypole and it would be rather pathetic if we did with only two ribbons.) we are going to take ribbons and write our wishes on them then hang them on a tree outside until the next full moon when we will take them down and burn them in our fire. We will also be bringing ribbons for people this Sunday to either take with them or they can hang them on our mini tree and we will transfer them to our bigger tree and add them to our own ritual. Oh, and there will be floral or green crowns... always!

So, how do you celebrate? Do you leave May Day baskets for your neighbors? Do you jump the bonfire? Do you have a great recipe for honeycakes? we would like to know! Please share your traditions with us.

Love, Light, Joy, and Blessings for our family to yours!

HAPPY AND BLESSED BELTANE!
